Mechanical
Inspector
SHIFT: 6
AM to 6:30 PM Friday, Saturday, Sunday
DEPARTMENT: Quality
FLSA STATUS: Hourly paid (Non-exempt)
REPORTS TO: Quality Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
Mechanical testing of
materials (density, modulus, ultrasonic inspection (A-scan), micro hardness)
for manufactured products and raw materials to determine adherence to
specifications.
Inspects received goods,
in-process checks and final inspections per Q-reports.
Records / documents the
results of all testing procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
1. Inspects
products using gauges, Coordinate Measuring Machine, scales, oscilloscope,
precision hand tools and vision prior to shipment.
2. Generates
spreadsheets for data collection.
3. Reconciles
final inspection documentation for shipments.
4. Tests
incoming raw materials.
5. Maintain
a safe, clean and organized work environment.
6. Follow
standard operating procedures (SOPs).
7. All
other duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma required.
·
5-10 years in a quality position required.
·
ASQ certified technician desirable.
·
Thorough knowledge of geometric tolerancing
and drawing interpretation.
·
Expertise in mechanical testing of materials
such as density and modulus along with ultrasonic inspection (A-scan) and micro
hardness testing.
·
Keen attention to detail.
·
Must be able to use all standard Microsoft
applications.
·
Ability to perform multiple tasks in a
fast-paced environment to assure delivery requirements.
·
Good communication (oral and written)
skills.
·
Ability to keep accurate records.
·
Able to get along well with others.
·
Ability to follow documented procedures and
standards.
·
Excellent time-management skills with the
ability to work independently with little supervision.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
·
Able to frequently lift/push/pull objects
that are 75 pounds, or heavier, repeatedly.
·
Able to sit, stand, bend, squat, and walk
about the facility.
